static fingering position

• Jul 27, 2016 - 03:04

Hi

I am trying to work out how to get fingering suggestions to not be offset from the note but in a static position, either above or below, barlines.

I am also trying to work out if I can have 2 lines of elements as I am trying to write up some music for the hammered dulcimer, so I want one line to indicate where on the dulcimer to play the note and the other line to indicate which hammer to use (left or right).

I have added L and R to the fingering palette but when I use them they position relative to the note.

Cheers

Ian

Fingerings are nattached to individual notes, so they are always positioned that way. If you just want text attached to a particular position in time independent of the pitch of the note, don't use fingering - use staff text.

You can define a custom text style to apply to your second "line" of text, with a different vertical offset. Or, you could just use lyrics for this.

For the record, there is a plugin that can help. I found out this morning, a bit by chance! ): https://musescore.org/fr/project/fixfingering
In a single voice context (and for chords), it can be useful.
In a multi-voice context, it is something else.
Another limitation is that the vertical offset is lost if you want to adjust upper or lower. While in entering your fingerings as regular text, or as lyrics eg (or as chords, or figured bass, why not), that will be possible.
But according to your purpose, it may be tried.

- Result before, by default (the fingerings are wrong, only for the example!) Click to see entire images, the chord eg.

- Result after, with this plugin:
