Cannot remove extra dashes in lyrics between separate words
GIT commit: 3c7a69d
Errant and unwelcome dashes are appearing automatically between separate words.
I have completely re-entered the notes as well as the lyrics several times, and they keep appearing--even after using the copy-and-paste-lyrics-into-score function with manually formatted lyrics (specifying the appropriate dashes and spaces) from an external text editor.
Needless to say, this is maddening.

In order to help, we would need you to post the score you are having trouble with and precise steps to reproduce the problem. In general, it is better to ask first on the Support forum to confirm if something is a bug or just something you aren't doing correctly, but you can go ahead and attach to a response here, and we'll figure it out from there.
a single dash gets turned into multiple dashes if the distance between the sylables becomed too big. There is a PR pending to make that value configurable, https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/pull/2294, and an issue, which this then seens to be a duplicate of: #88171: Add dash max distance to lyrics parameters. Edit: Marc's and my post crossed. If my post doesn't describe the problem, please do as Marc suggested.
I suspect it is something else, because the issue report specifically says these are separate words - meaning no dashes at all are expected. Let's leave it open until we get further clarification.

Hello, I am having this trouble and wondering if you could help me please. I am trying to add the same words in Bars 35 to 42 in the treble clef to the bass clef but hyphens come up automatically. They are not needed and some seem larger that the dash that is there. Is there anything I can do please?
Thank you
Marcia

To get rid of the hyphens you don't want, select (double click) the syllable before the hyphen, move the cursor to the end of the syallable and press the space bar. The hyphens only show up when you press the - key (minus sign).

Ahhh, just tried something else. The original file was emailed to me and that was the one I was working on. I saved my own copy, closed the original file and then re-opened my saved copy. There now seems to be a difference. No more unwanted dashes!! Hooray!!
Perhaps that is what others were experiencing as well.
Kind Regards
Marcia
