Articulation default positioning with note above the staff

Certain articulation markings (especially fermatas and bowings) are not positioned correctly above the note when automatically positioned (via clicking on a note and then double clicking on the fermata symbol) and require manual adjustment. The attached image is what happens when the note is above the staff. They should be positioned directly above the note if the note is above the staff, and on top of the staff if the note is in the staff. MuseScore currently always positions the note above the staff.
