Drumkit set-up issues

• Sep 26, 2016 - 16:28

2.0.3 / Win 7.

I'd like to report a few issues in some of the drumkit setups.

Brush/Brush 1/Brush 2

Notes D2, D#2, E2 are panned hard left rather than centre.

Orchestral Kit

G#1 and A#1 sound "odd".
F#5. Click at the end of the sample.

The samples for the following Midi notes have not been set to "sustain". If you release the key quickly the sample is cut off rather than being played in full.

D#1, E1, A1
D2, E2
G#3
C#4, D4, D#4, E4
C5, C#5, D#5, E5, G#5, A#5,
C#6, D6,

Marching Snare

The samples for the following Midi notes have not been set to "sustain".

D3, E3, C4, E5.

Marching Bass

Only has 4 notes: C3, D3, A4, B4. Are these sounding correctly?

Marching Cymbals

A6 and D#7 are on a loop? Is that OK?

The samples for the following Midi notes have not been set to "sustain".

D#5, E5, E6, G#6

Marching Tenor

The samples for the following Midi notes have not been set to "sustain".

C3, C#3, D#3, E3
C4, C#4, D#4,
C5, C#5, D#5,
C6, C#6
C7, C#7

Which version of FluidR3Mono?

A lot of work has been done recently on the Marching Percussion instruments, so it is entirley possible some of these issues have already been dealt with.

Using the latest version – 310. The report isn't comprehensive. There are similar issues with other instruments in the same kits.

One other thing: I noticed that all of the Tom-toms (all drumkits) are panned to centre. It might be a good idea to spread the pan values just like a real kit.

Could we add a tight closed hihat sound to the percussion? This would be a useful addition to the existing closed hihats.

The cymbals are very harsh. The ride cymbals are generally quite noisy. I use them for jazz scoring, but they can get tiresomely overly-ringy even when they make up only a few semiquavers in a bar.

I have the densine's drum sounds in alongside the Orchestra/standard kits. To be honest, apart from a few tweaks here and there most of the kits sound exactly the same. Jazz kits 1-7 and 'standard' and 'room' are practically identical and I can't fathom the reason why they exist.
