Triplets by their very nature must have the same durations for all notes. Two halves and a quarter aren't equal.

Just to expand on that, a quarter nite and two halves adds up to five beats. So if you want to place those in the space of something else - loke in the space of four beas - then its a quintuplet you want, not a triplet.
