Help with Older Versions of MuseScore
Hi, I've been loving MuseScore for years. Recently I had to format my computer due to some performance issue thereby loosing all my applications including MuseScore. I tried to download the latest version in the official site but seem to be having some problems. (I tried several times) I figured I'd be better off with MuseScore 2.0 because it worked just fine back then, so I downloaded it through the "Older Versions" link. Now that I've extracted it, I can't seem to find the application icon that would launch MuseScore. Please help me. Thanks.

2.0.3 better?
look for the *.exe files in the 'bin' folder (eg. C:\Program Files\MuseScore\bin)

Hey Shoichi, I downloaded the file at SourceForge.net (thats where the links in the download page went) as a zip file, then I extracted it. (I wasn't really sure I should've done that but it was a .zip file so) The folder 'bin' you were saying doesn't seem to be there. *see attached. Thanks

Can you try expanding the mscore folder and see what files are in there?

Here it is..

Oof! Apparently, it's not in that folder.
It appears that you're running a Windows OS, however, so perhaps you could find the .exe by using the search function. Try running a search for *score.exe and see if that turns up the application file.
I'm sorry I can't be of more help. Perhaps one of the developers with more knowledge of this will see this thread and be able to give you more specific advice.

It's alright. Thanks though :) I'll try researching on how to install programs using .zip files.. I hope something turns up. Thanks!

Looks like you downloaded the source code, not anything you can install.
Maybe it's better to focus on what went wrong with the original 2.0.3 installation and get that working, rather than expending even more effort trying to get an older buggier version working.

MuseScore 2.0 saves the day. A friend of mine kept his copy of the installer package of MuseScore 2.0 so I was able to install it perfectly. Now I can work with my music but I still have to figure out how to update it to the latest version. Still, 2.0 is better than nothing. Thanks for all the help people!

You get 2.0.3, the latest version, from https://musescore.org/en/download, you just may need to convince your browser to download it properly
