Already possible. Click on the line, enter the inspector, and under line there should be a checkbox "allow diagonal". Click that. Now you can adjust the line in whatever way you'd like.
Yes, for the record, the word you want to describe those hairpins is "diagonal". The word "vertical" means straight up and down. That is:
