completely arbitrary measures
I am attaching a score that reflects the kind of work I want to do:
I want to use bar lines simply as conceptual differentiators, with no counting aspect done by the program. I don't want the program to think about the lateral count. Vertically I don't mind: beat for beat, the totals ought to line up. But horizontally, if I suddenly want a repeat bar with say nine beats in it, I don't want the program to consider the length of the previous 'measure'. I don't want any ties to be generated by the program. I would also like not to have to go through and mark the bars as invisible. I just want a clean working space, such that I can put a vertical line whenever I feel a need, as well as a repeat section marker where I need one.
Can you help me with the settings?
Carl

I see it now. It's under "measure properties", right click.
Thank you :-)
Indeed, either use measure properties to create the irregular measures or use the join/split measure commands: https://musescore.org/en/handbook/measure-operations#split-join
