El Capitan, Firefox. To reproduce:

1. Click in the field below to reply.
2. Press Cmd+Ctrl+Space to open the Characters window, and choose "Emoji" in the left sidebar.
3. Double-click any emoji to enter it. Then type some sentences following it.
4. Click "Save."

Result: no emoji, and any text that came after it is also lost.
