From Wikipedia:
"Unicode includes [a] few precomposed accented Cyrillic letters; the others can be combined by adding U+0301 ("combining acute accent") after the accented vowel (e.g., ы́ э́ ю́ я́)"
For MS Word I use alt+769 from the
number keys on the right end of keyboard but
that doesn't work for me in MuseScore,
but I can make the accented character in MS Word and
copy and paste into MuseScore.
I've been doing the same, using MSWord and copy/pasting, but it would be REALLY great to have a keyboard shortcut. Can you program your own shortcuts in Musescore?
As mentioned, you can press F2 while editing text to display the "Special Characters" palette and enter your characters from there. You should also be able to use the standard Alt+0xxx shortcuts, where "xxx" is the numeric code for the character.
You *can* customize shortcuts in MuseScore, via Edit / Preferences / Shortcuts, but this is only for commands - things you would otherwise do via the menu or palette etc. No way to define *characters* that way.

If not present in the keyboard try pressing F2. If I did not understand explain it again.
These are Russian Lyric characters I would like to accent.
Not add an accented character,

There is a tab across the top of the symbols that says common symbols. Click that tab and you will see the accented characters.

Ordinary keyboard key-combinations that you would use for entering these characters, say in a word processor, ought to work too.

Don't know whether that might help?
