How can I add a series of grace notes in front of a whole not in the first measure of a 4/4 piece?

Selected whole note: use the shortcut: Shift + "/"

You'll need to manually adjust the piches. Click the first one and use up and down arrows, shift arrows and ctrl arrows to adjust the pitch then the right or left arrow to move to the next or previous note.
