Sorry to reply to my own report, but I was wrong about this being a new bug...
Look in bars 1(!), 3, 9, 11, etc. on page 30 of the Open Goldberg Variations as currently published on IMSLP and you will see more examples.
Also see this perhaps.
Yes - I think this issue is related to one of the several issues referred to in that report.
However, this issue is the result of MuseScore being unable to produce straightforward standard musical notation, as per my example. Unlike the related issue there is no room for discussion about the correct notation in my simple case.
I would have liked to have marked this as 'critical' as it prevents simple music being correctly displayed, but I defer to the strict definition of what's 'critical' in the MuseScore issue reporting guidance.
Hi
Critical is said to be data loss, corruption, crashes or something desperately wrong.
I would say this is a normal bug - there's others that also don't adhere to notation rules.
I'm sure it will be fixed for 2.0 :).
This issue and #19021: Beam broken segment: wrong position are actually the same issue.
I'm going to mark this one as duplicate as the other, although later, has more documentation.
If anybody disagree with the choice, please let me know.
M.
