Using old clef symbols
Is it possible to use old clef symbols, such as the old F-clef given here?: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clef#History
If it isn't, I'd like to make it a feature request.

Short answer: no, it is not possible.
Longer answer: 'old' clefs come in a very, very large number! Across centuries and across countries, lots of different shapes have been used.
Implementing 'each' of them is virtually impossible, implementing some of them will raise endless discussions.
And to be used as standard clefs are used, the program has to know each of them, because it has to be able to generate each of them at the beginning of the staves.
Question: what do you need them for?
If it is just for incipits, you might be interested in this post of mine.

Nothing important, just for reproducing a music fragment in a book:

By the way, is the rest at the very beginning an alternate/old form of the crotchet rest?

Yes, it is.

Find an image of the clef that you want and edit it to set the background transparent (I used GIMP; Layer->Transparency->Add Alpha Channel, use the magic wand to select the white background and press Delete). Save it as a .PNG file.
Make the existing clef in your score invisible.
Drag the edited image over to your score. Click on it and experiment with the handles (little blue blocks) to re-size it to fit nicely. I also moved the time signature and key signatures over to the right a bit to make it look neater.
