I close this issue. Apple(Cmd, Ctrl on windows) + shift + click is a shortcut to clone elements. I guess this bug report is not a request to disable this feature. If this feature is buggy on a particular element, let's fix it, or deactivate it for this particular element. Reopen if it's not clear.
Sure. Cmd + shift + click let you clone a text or a clef in the score. It can be useful to add the same text on several parts without going to the palette or using copy paste.
Cmd + shift + click is also used to create your own custom palette from a score. Let's say you are a fan of weird tempo indication like "horse speed", and you want to reuse this tempo mark in another score or several places in the score. Create it once in the score, Cmd + shift + click it to a palette.

Can you give an example in which it is useful?

Thanks.
Would copy/paste not suffice?
