Difference Trombone/Tenor Trombone
I notice that in the instrument list for adding staves there are entries for Trombone and Tenor Trombone.
I haven't played the instrument for many years, but I could play.
It is my understanding that they are the same instrument.
If so, one could be removed.
If not, someone please help educate me. :)

The tenor trombone in MS has the tenor clef assigned to it, while trombone has the bass clef assigned to it.
Today the bass clef is almost exclusively used for the (tenor) trombone, while historically the tenor clef was more common.
In MuseScore...
According to the usable pitch range in Staff Properties, the Trombone shows B1 as the lowest playable note. The Tenor Trombone shows E2 as its lowest note.

There was a short non definitive discussion about this a few weeks ago https://musescore.org/en/node/173091
Even as there are different limitations to ranges for other instruments due to construction there are different limitations on trombones as well. In England they used to use a smaller bore. Does this affect the range? I don't know. The true range on brass instruments is not very well defined any way. I knew someone who could play down around an A2 (concert pitch) on the trumpet, but I'm not advocating the range be changed to allow for this, he was exceptional. Being more familiar with the trumpet, I know there are many people who can play well into the red notes on MuseScore, but I don't suggest raising that range either, because the ranges are set to reflect what an average professional or amateur is expected to be able to play.

Yeah, range. I used to get down to low F below the lowest Bb, and even with my limited skills I was able to get to high C.
Thanks much for the education everyone.
Have a great day.
