Play Notes When Entering

I'm not entirely sure what you are asking, so if I don't answer what you want to know, please ask your question again.

You can turn on and off the notes while editing by clicking on the button on the top of the screen that kind of looks like this:

-- |
   \

The tooltip for this button says "Enable sound while editing".

This works as I expect, so give it a try.

I also looked at your suggestion of Edit > Preferences > Note Entry > Play notes when editing. When I tried to select or deselect this box, however, MuseScore crashed.

The steps to reproduce this are:
- Open Musescore with no file.
- Use File > New to create a new score from scratch.
- Go into Note entry mode and enter a few notes.
- Open Edit > Preferences > Note Entry and click on the box next to Play notes when editing.
- Click on either OK or Apply.
- A popup appears that says that mscore.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.

It may not even be necessary to click on Play notes when editing in order to get the crash.

I'm using XP and MuseScore 1.2.

If it's still not working after following these steps, come back here, and we can try to establish whether or not it is a bug specific to your system, or whether there is something else causing the problem.
