Alternating beam
I am trying to make an alternating beam to signify notes being played on a different string, not sure of other uses for this. Have attached an example.

I'd use two voices:
Do the first voice as note, rest, note, rest etc. and then the second voice as rest, note, rest note...
Then select all the notes and rests and beam them - which will look a mess.
Then go through the notes and un-beam to get the desired appearance.
Finally, either go through the rests individually and make them Invisible or right-click on a rest, choose Select All Similar Elements in Same Stave and make them all Invisible.
I have set up a keyboard shortcut (Edit -> Preferences) to make this easier on my system so I just use the arrows to progress through the notes and hit the key to de-beam (or, more technically, change the beaming for a particular note to Beam Start).

I was working on the second voice, just couldn't seem to get it to work, thanks, its all good now!
