Album Creation errors?

• Apr 12, 2017 - 18:05

Ok first off I feel like I am complaining, when nothing could be further from the truth.
It is AMAZING that MuseScore is FREE.
Absolutely tremendous notation program, and it is now well on its way to surpassing Finale and Sibelius in ease of use and functionality...

OK with that out of the way. I think I see album bugs?

I needed to create an album of all my work to resend to the copyright office. And then create a .pdf.

1. The 8va symbols change. They turn into an ugly simpler text instead of the nice robust font normally used.

2. Sometimes I get 'carry over' of a previous clef. The song preceding will end on a Bass Clef, and the next song will be written out in bass clef instead of treble....

3. Sometimes I get a 'carry over' of key signature. The song preceding will be in the key of C# and the next song will be written in C#

4. I have found it is better to have no page break symbols except at the end of the song. Only line breaks.
And the last measure has a page break and section break.

5. Sometimes the measures do not follow my page break symbols.

6. Is there a limit to how many pieces can be used to create an album? I was forced to break up my albums into three sections. And then join the .pdfs in Acrobat.

QUESTION: If I have an album saved. Mysongs.album. And then I change a song in that album. And then I load the album into Musescore. Does the .album file adjust for the updated file?

Anyway, thanks for this awesome program.

1. ?

2. All scores in the album need to habe the same set of instruments and staves and in the same order.
If one score changes clef, you may need to explicitly change it back in the next score.
Also the joined files takes all the style settings of the first score.

3. Should not happen, the scores it joins should get separated by a section break. If not, just end all your scores with a section break. Might fix the issue abobe too.

4. Right ;-)

5. ?

6. There is no limit. Just when the resulting score gets too big, edtiting becomes very slow.

the .album file basically is just a list of scores, resp. the filenames of these scores. So as long as these filenames don't Change, but just their Content, the .album file should load the latest version of them
