Piano Octaves
Here's my problem:
I'm writing a piece that uses an extensive range of keys, including two of the top keys on the piano. I would rather simply write it as an Am chord, two octaves up, but they don't have an octave line for 16va. How can I fix this?
Also, I can't figure out how to work the text. When I want to write stuff in the music, such as tempos, or styles, I cannot figure it out. Please help!

Two octaves isn't a 16th; it's a 15th (count and see :-). So that's the line you want.
As for text, you don't say what particular problems you are having, so I'll just point you to the relevant sections of the manual: Tempo and Text . If you have more specific questions, feel free to ask!

Yes, but 16va is the proper line used for what he wants.

No, it is 15va, a 16va simply doesn't exist
P.S. There's also a 22va if you really wanted it in extreme circumstances.
Also, don't forget that you have the option for an octave up (8) or two octaves up (15) treble clef.
