r1867 Chordnames
Hello.
I just downloaded and installed r 1867.
I was under the impression most problems with the Jazz font, etc. were fixed. However, the ability to invoke the Jazz font seems to be removed.
Any updated info?
Regards.

The latest mscore versions move all chord name rendering details into an external xml configuration file. There are currently two files selectable. chords.xml and jazzfont.xml. By selecting the jazzfont.xml file you should get a similar output like in previous mscore versions with the the jazzfont checkbox checked.

Hi. i select the jazz font xml file in the style area, selected apply and looked at previously notated changes: no change.
I re-booted the program, the proper xml file was there - no change.
I then went and selected the same file in the preferences area for the instrument list, apply etc. - No change, all still Times Roman.
What am I missing?

I was able to get an acceptable version by going to the Chordnames in text style and selecting inkpen2chords, although I don't think that's what we're after.
However, now when I go to create a new score there are no instruments listed so i cannot create an new score.
I tried resetting the preferences to chords xml, reboots etc. but no change

From the main menu choose Style > Edit Style > Chordnames. Replace chords.xml with jazzchords.xml
Also you will need to revert whatever changes you made via Edit > Preferences to get your instrument list back.

Can you advise me as to what the proper file is that should be there, and where I might find it?
Sorry for the inconvenience.

From memory the instruments list is found at something like C:\Program Files\MuseScore 0.9\Templates\instruments.xml

This is the result when I set everything back to normal and selected jazzchords. The chordname is and should show Dm.

The Jazz chords are selected but I am getting Times new roman. The Jazzchords.xml file seems to make no difference??? Is there another switch I should throw?
Thanks.

None of the chord names change? Feel free to attach the file.

I opened your file, went to Style > Edit Style > Chordnames and replaced the full path with jazzchords.xml by itself, click apply and the D and F chords appeared. I'm not sure why the full path wasn't working.
The Dm chord still appeared in Times New Roman Bold so I double clicked on it then clicked outside of it and it reverted back to the jazz font.

The issueo fthe name still appearing improperly until selection and release has been around for some time. It has seemed like a minor irritation but I guess it should be fixed.
Hello, I'm having the same problem, two years on, and can't seem to find anything else on the discussion boards - it IS 12:25am though, so that could have something to do with it.
Using regular Chordnames, the "7" won't appear in superscript, despite appearing in superscript when in input mode.
Using Jazzchords.xml, inserting a flat or sharp brings it back to Times New Roman, and I've gone in and out of the text box and I've changed all the Style settings I can think of, and it just looks messy and unprofessional.
Can anyone help?

Have you read the Handbook entry on Chord Names, which gives the instructions on entering chords? You'll find instructions on how to select a "style" for your chords that handls all the details of things like superscripting numbers as necessary. You don't do that manually; in fact, as you are seeing, it doesn't work to do it manually. Also see my tutorial on creating lead sheets in general, and the article I wrote on the new jazz features in 1.1 - you can reach that from the main musescore.org page, bottom right corner.
