"N" hangs up if nothing selected
Clicking "N" button causes a hang-up if no note nor pause was selected (except for new documents)
One can live with that, just has to remember about selecting anything before clicking "N". It is annoying, though.

Is it this you are encountering?: #19241: Enabling Note Entry after entering note and disabling it causes temporary hang
What version MuseScore and operating system are you using? For future reports, could you read this ?

Bug #19241 is nearly the same -- the only difference is that "my" hang is for good (i.e. more than I manage to wait)

Whilst I can reproduce, the hang only lasts about a minute.
Does anyone else have the same problem as staho?
