jerky playback MS v1.2 Linux Mint 14
hello everyone,
i have an Acer Aspire with AMD E-300 dual core processor (1.3GHz) and 4Gb RAM. I'm running Linux Mint 14, MS version 1.2.
my simple 4 voice choral scores have trouble playing back; after a couple of measures the sound gets al jerky. I've tried changing the settings in the I/O tab but to no avail. When playing back, Musescore takes up almost all of CPU, while not using alot of RAM when playing back. I use the default soundfont, i.e.TimGM6mb.sf2
can anyone help me?
Sincerely,
Pieter
edit: btw it might just be the processor which is too slow, however I'm talking about really small pieces of music, like 32 measure, 4-voice type stuff...

This is a known, but still unexplained, bug. It is more frequent under Windows, but I exprienced it under Mint 14 too.
With your score open, try changing the setting in "Display | Synthesizer", Reverb slider; try a setting slightly above 0. In most cases, anything other than 0 (slider completely down) works.
If it does for you, save the score with the new setting and it will 'stick'. You will have to redo it for each new score, though.

Thanks a million! I read that thing about the reverb somewhere (I don't usually post every problem i have without searching extensively the forums) but i thought they meant the reverb dials under part list (F8)...worked like a charm!
I'm very happy about this because i was trying to get Jack server running etc. which I couldn't get to work either...you just saved me hours of work!

p.s. no way to mark the forum post as solved? (can't edit anymore)
