Hey musinoda,
We experience the slow download data-transfer as well and are investigating what we can do. The prereleases server is serving almost 1 terabyte of data each month now. It appears that it is not scaling well as the concurrent number of downloads have gone up drastically the last months. Tbc.

There are two of us offering alternative regular builds of MuseScore2 if you're finding the Nightlies server too slow.
You can find more details in this thread.

Thomas - if you think it would help I can start offering a build more often than once a week.

Hey Michael,
Thanks for stepping up. The problem however is a scaling issue. As the prereleases server is serving 1 terabyte on a monthly basis now, we will need to migrate it to a better hosting facility with a better throughput. Something that will scale us to the next 20 terabyte per month. We might be getting there rather fast as we'll get more 2.0 testers on board.
We want to work towards a continuous integrated solution:

OK Thomas.
I'll keep on uploading to the FileFactory account I have, and hopefully that will take some pressure off the main server until you can find suitable hosting. Maybe it would be worth listing the alternative on the Nightlies page.

The latest build is from Saturday.
In future I will check daily for new commits and do a build if there is one.

Let me add that I'm not a big fan of linking to a commercial website for nightlies, so the solution we are trying to make should be controlled by us. I asked http://osuosl.org/ for a FTP server and some space/bandwith.

I've just found this.....
https://owncloud.com/owncloud-overview
This is an Open Source cloud solution
Might that be some use?
In reply to I've just found by ChurchOrganist
Owncloud is a nice open source software. But it's really only software, even if they offer an hosted solution for it. We don't really need a lot of software, a simple FTP server is enough. What we lack is hardware and bandwith. Hopefully osuosl.org can solve it. If not, we can also contact TuxFamily.org http://www.tuxfamily.org/en/about

Ok, well if you let me have an ftp.address to upload to I'll upload my builds there rather than FileFactory.
The alternative would be to make a public folder on my Google Drive
Would that be better?
In reply to Ok, well if you let me have by ChurchOrganist
Hey Michael,
It's not the builds we lack off, as for each commit a new build is automatically created and offered for download. Instead it's the throughput of of the fileserver serving these builds which is currently the bottle neck.
We thought about Google Drive as well, but we need a better solution for integration and content delivery speed.

I tried to make things a bit clearer by creating this page http://musescore.org/en/developers-handbook/references/development-infr… featuring this schema. Click to enlarge.
