Problem with sounding instrument
In the attached score one instrument is labelled Bariton. For this I created an extract. When pointing with the mouse on a note of Line Bariton in the complete score it sounds awful. The same was heard with the extract. Then I changed the instrument in extract to tuba and then back to euphonium. The sound was as expected. In the complete score, however, the sound didn't change and remained awful. Saving and reopening the score (and musescore) didn't change the effect.

Wrong transpositioning?

The transposition is the same in both the complete score and the extract.

It should sound like ion the extract. Imho transposition is misleading. Can you hear the effect by following my description?

Ah, you mean that extra high pitch?

I beg your pardon!
When I tried to create mp3 files to demonstrate the effect I noticed in the mixer that the MIDI sound for Bariton was Orchestra hit, whereas the instrument was still euphonium. It must have happened when scrolling in the mixer with the mouse wheel. If you happen to be on a sound button, the sound scrolls in the midi list. Otherwise it scrolls the instrument list.
This sort of GUI is a little too modern for my old brain.
