0.9.5 Mac - no sound
Just downloaded 0.9.5 RC1 (revision 1944) on Mac OS X 10.4.11 and I have no sound. The transport bar does move along, as though it thinks it's playing, but I'm not hearing any sound. Presumably as a result of this, I am also unable to export a score to a format like WAV, Ogg or Midi: it does export, but the file is just silent.
Sorry if this has been covered before; I couldn't find anything though.

Seems obvious. Sorry... Have you check the volume of your OS?

Oh, if only it were that simple! The volume is definitely up and my audio and headphones are fine.
I have even tried changing the SoundFont that it uses in the I/O preferences - but it still doesn't work.

In Preferences -> I/O. Portaudio is selected and set to CoreAudio and Built in?
What is your processor?
Can you run musescore in a terminal? and check the output?
In reply to You never know ;) by [DELETED] 5
Yes, the Portaudio settings are right. I've run the program from a terminal and I think the problem is this:
load soundfont <:/data/piano1.sf2>
fluid: error loading sound font: Sound font file size mismatch
Failed to load SoundFont <:/data/piano1.sf2>DPI 360.000000(72) PDPI 72.000000(72) DPMM 14.173228
Where even is the :/data folder? I can't find it inside the application bundle.
My processor is a PowerPC G5 2.0GHz.
In reply to Error loading sound font by Baryon
The data folder is not an actual folder. This soundfont /data/piano1.sf2 is embedded in the mscore executable as a resource. You are the first one to report this problem.
Can you try to set another soundfont and run in a terminal?

load translator qt_en_GB failed
in stat: : No such file or directory
in stat: : No such file or directory
load soundfont FluidR3122501/FluidR3 GM.SF2
fluid: error loading sound font: Sound font file size mismatch
Failed to load SoundFont FluidR3122501/FluidR3 GM.SF2 DPI 360.000000(72) PDPI 72.000000(72) DPMM 14.173228
And every time I try to play a note it comes out with this (even with the default sound font):
FluidSynth error: event 0x90 channel 0: channel has no preset
Thanks for your help so far.

Did you try another SoundFont yet? If so, which one did you try? Instructions are in the handbook: SoundFont
In reply to Did you try another SoundFont by David Bolton
Yes, I did try another SoundFont. I tried FluidR3_GM.sf2 although I downloaded it from somewhere else. The error is the same: "error loading sound font: Sound font file size mismatch".
As a result of this, I might as well also point out that the drop-down menu in the mixer (where you can change the instrument sound) is blank. This would indicate that this is definitely a problem with loading the SoundFont. Here's a screenshot, including the error message in the terminal.

I am having what appears to be the same problem-- no sound output from the app. The volume is maxed, other apps are producing sound, just none from MuseScore.
1 GHz PowerPC G4, OS X 10.4.11, MuseScore 0.9.5 144.

This should be fixed for the upcoming release of 0.9.5. See http://www.musescore.org/en/node/2164

I had the same problem as CB and Baryon when I tried to play a score on my G5 PPC,
but the newest version, r1987, has fixed it.
Thank you, David Bolton and lasconic.

I just downloaded and ran 0.9.5 candidate 2, and it works great now. Thank you!!!!

I've read and tried the comments above, but it didn't solve my problem. Maybe some of you can help.
When I try to load Musescore it says:
Indlæsning af Sound
"/Applications/MuseScore.app"
fejlede(error): Afspilning vil ikke være tilgængelig.(output not available)
Gå til Vis(don't know the translation) > Syntesizer
og kontrollér at filplaceringen er korrekt. Check right file placement

Did you install MuseScore following the Installation instructions? If yes, do you upgrade from an old version?
Can you check Display -> Synthesizer and make a screenshot or tell us which soundfont is used?
In reply to Did you install MuseScore by [DELETED] 5
Yes I did exactly what it said. I attached the print of Display-Syth...
I hope it helps:-)
By the way - I'm a mac-user..

Next to where it says SoundFont, click on the "Open" icon and browse for the actual location of the SoundFont. In the handbook, see SoundFont , "MuseScore settings" for the default location.
In reply to Browse for the correct location of the SoundFont by David Bolton
I now downloaded the sondfont: _GM.sf2 (141 MB uncompressed), download Fluid-soundfont.tar.gz (129 MB)
And now IT WORKs - WEHEEEEE!!!!!
Thanks a million:-D
Thank you thank you thank you....
