Can I move Chord names slightly
I want to insert chord names, but I need to
move them "slightly" because I am crowded.
I also notice that there are other text
boxes that would hold a chord name text.
Is there a way to write free unboxed
text just anywhere.
I think my biggest problem here is that
I cannot move the text a little bit.

You can drag names you've inserted to wherever you'd like.

It seemed that they should be able to be dragged, but
they didn't drag for me. I'll work on it to figure out
what I am doing incorrectly.

not double click to select.

Dragging chord names is done just like dragging anything else - on Windows, that's usually double click, hold, drag, release (depends on your mouse driver, I suppose).
But I wouldn't recommend that usually as a way of uncrowding your music. First, without seeing your score, it's hard to say what might be going on, but often just putting in line breaks more often makes everything much less crowded. Or use Layout / Add more stretch. If you still have places where chords overlap, double click to go to edit mode, then just use the cursor keys to nudge the chord left or right. As with everything else in MuseScore, cursor key by itself goes by 1sp units (the size of the "space" between staff lines), ctrl-sp moves in 0.1sp units.
2.0, btw, will automatically respace music to accommodate chord symbols.
