Section break
I am rewriting a book of musical exercises for the double bass - its a hand written 'method' book written by a band leader some years ago - a collection of exercises in all keys and time signatures.
I just need some advice on how to make each exercise a separate entity. I have been in the LAYOUT menu and played with 'line break' , and 'page break' and 'stave spacer' but they don't end the previous section. Is there anything that will enable me to create each exercise - I think I am after a 'section break' - but I haven't seen how to create that - is there something obvious I am ,missing to achieve this? All advice gratefully received !

2.0 will have a section break
Until then use a line or page break, optionally insert a vertical frame (to enter a new title, composer etc) and modify the new sections first measure's counter to substract the preveious number of measures (see http://musescore.org/en/handbook/measure-operations). You also may want to disable courtesy clefs, timesigs, keysigs and possible the naturals in fron of the new keysig.
If your book will have more than a little text, you might find it easier to create the text in a word processor then insert the examples as graphics. See http://extensions.libreoffice.org/extension-center/musescore-example-ma… for a method that works very well. Takes a while to set up, so not worth it ijust for a single short document, but definitely worth it if you are, say, writing a textbook.
