Each version does something better than the other :).

In 1.3, the notes of each voice collide.

In 2.0, the notes of the same voice collide.

If I remove most of the bars, there is more space for the noteheads (I had to include the full line of drums to reproduce the issue). Pretty much something like the attached file would be fine, I think.
