Lost Saves, Renamed Files?
I have been working on and off with a piece for some time and I have noticed that occasionally certain pieces will be missing and the most recent save times do not match up at all with when I actually worked (and saved!) last. I just recently updated from 2.0.1 to 2.0.2 but I first closed and saved my work. I updated, and the only available version is from quite awhile ago! I've made hidden files visible and checked in AppData to see the auto saves, and still nothing comes up! The files have all been renamed in that folder as well as when they show up in the "Open Recent" tab in Musescore itself to things like "scs36496", "scc55840", "scd55840", "scQ55840", "sck39968" and so on. I'd also like to note that several of those are just the blank default score as shown in one of my attached images. Looking in the AppData folder as well I see that there is absolutely nothing from yesterday, 6/13/2017 whatsoever and I definitely did quite a bit of work on multiple pieces.
WHAT IS GOING ON AND HOW DO I FIX IT?

The files, almost certainly are elsewhere.
A 'virtual folder'/ 'VirtualStore'?
Do a search for the modified files in a date range.

Also: open 'Preferences' and check the path of the 'Scores' folder;

So I've got my Virtual Store, but the only version that is there is from 6/4/2017 which seems to be popping up a lot. Still, I tried to run it and this is what happened:

Rename the file, remove the final comma

What comma? There's no comma in the name itself, just the type of file. I think I'm misunderstanding? Also, that would be from the beginning of this month and definitely not the version I'm looking for.

The type of the file is part of the name. As stated, you need to remove the comma.
Without knowing more about what happened, I'd say you probably experienced a crash at some point, and then on the next restart you were offered the option of restoring your previous session, and you agreed, but then when you went to save the restored file, you did not put it back in the original folder but instead accepted the proposed default location, which is very OS-specific. Not sure why we don't default to the original foldert, but anyhow, do a full search of your drive for MSCZ, MSCX, MSCZ, and MSCX, files and it should turn up.
You just recently updated to 2.0.2? So you missed 2.0.3 more than.a year ago and 2.1, about 6 weeks old?

Now I'm not really sure, I went to File then "Info..." and in that Score Information box it says I'm using 2.0.2? That seems strange to me as well. Just tried updating, but it doesn't look like anything changed...?

Well, I noticed I was clicking in the task bar to get to the application so I just searched it in the windows icon and clicked and that gave me 2.1 so that's all set, except now none of my files will open because they've all been turned to the MSCZ, file.

The backup file adds a period to the beginning of the file name (.) and a comma (,) to the end (e.g. if your normal file is called "untitled.mscz", the backup copy will be ".untitled.mscz,"), and the period and comma need to be removed from the name in order to open the backup file in MuseScore. As it is stored in the same folder as your normal MuseScore file, you may also need to give it a unique name (e.g. changing ".untitled.mscz," to "untitled-backup1.mscz").
I still believe your original files are in another folder ...

Still nothing. I've checked all of those file types (which largely sent me to AppData and Roaming) but still nothing whatsoever. I think my only choice is simply to rewrite it. Thank you anyway!
