Another Tempo question
While trying to learn how to set the tempo of a piece, I trawled the forum and handbook, and to the best of my knowledge, followed all the comments that I could find.
I have been copying a piece of sheet music that is lively, around 125 - 130 bpm.
The Play Panel was left at the default setting of 120 bpm - 100%.
I set the tempo through the create - text - tempo, selecting FAST which gave me 132 bpm.
On playing the piece, there didn't seem to be that much of a tempo increase,
To get the Musecore playback to seem like the correct tempo, I had to manually increase the tempo through the text option, to around 180 bpm,
I know I am probably doing something wrong, but don't know what it is.
Musescore 1.3 on XP.
Thank for any help.

I think you have to save and reload for the changed tempo to make it into the Play panel
Posting the score itself always helps.
Not sure what you mean about a tempo "increase". Do you mean, you put the text somewhere other than beginning, and expected to hear it speed up at that spot? Or that you placed it at the beginning, but didn't hear much difference between how it sounded before you added the text and after? Either way, since the default is 120bpm and you only increased it to 132, that's not a very big change. Setting the tempo to 180 would indeed make it more noticeably fast. Are you saying you set the tempo to 180 but believe the playback is actually slower than that? Have you verified this with a metronome?

If you open a score without a tempo text, then the Play Panel Shows 120bpm. If you now add a tempo text to the beginning, with a different tempo, the Play pannel stays at 120bpm until you save and reload the score.

I placed the tempo at the beginning, but it was a lack of understanding of how Musescore works, and a lack of the basics of musical technicalities.
I took onboard all that the people have said in their replies, yourself included, got myself a metronone for my Ipad, and spent a day or so going through dozens of tests creating short pieces and checking tempo with the metronome and getting familiar with both.
I think I am on a bit more solid footing now.
Thanks for you help.
