MIDI Input/Step-time

I am not sure if this is a bug or if I am doing something incorrectly. I am able to enter notes using my Akai MIDI keyboard, but after I select the rhythm to be entered, press the appropriate pitch, the "cursor" does not advance to the next note on it's own, unlike when I'm doing manual (computer keyboard) entry. It automatically advances.

Am I missing a configuration component? I keep forgetting to press the right arrow key to advance to the next pitch and I'm losing time in composing instead of increasing my speed and accuracy (which is why I purchased the MIDI input device).

My guess is your MIDI device is not sending a note off message when you release the key - or you are perhaps not releasing the key before entering the next note. That or maybe your Shift-lock key is on.
