copying 2nd and 4th voice
hihi, it is me again :)
i am making this guitar solo arrangement and in the 3rd and 4th bar(measure) in the [B] part i wish to add the 2nd and 4th voice from the 1st and 2nd bar(measure).
So i made a new score and copied the 1st and 2nd bar into it and deleted the 1st voice. (attached "Untitled")
In my original score i added a line break after the 2nd bar, (in the 3rd bar) right clicked the 1st note in the 1st voice>select>more>"note, same staff, same voice, same system" and "add to selection" end pressed edit>copy.
Then (in Untitled) i selected the first rest and clicked edit>paste.
Nothing seems to happen.
Where am i going wrong? can not find it in the handbook...
thanks!

Does this "How to" help?

no, that is principaly what i did (i think)
"Select the first staff by clicking on the first note or rest and shift-click on the last one.
Go to Edit → Voices → Exchange Voice 1-2."
i did: i made a new score and copied the 1st and 2nd bar into it and deleted the 1st voice.
"Select the second staff by clicking on the first note or rest and shift-click on the last one.
Edit → Copy."
i did: (in the 3rd bar) right clicked the 1st note in the 1st voice>select>more>"note, same staff, same voice, same system" and "add to selection" (all notes in the 1st voice turn blue*exept the 1st one) and pressed edit>copy.
"Select the first rest of voice 1 in the first staff.
Edit → Paste."
i did: Then (in Untitled) i selected the first rest and clicked edit>paste.
Thank you!

Wee, here's what you said you did:
right clicked the 1st note in the 1st voice>select>more>"note, same staff, same voice, same system" and "add to selection" end pressed edit>copy.
Then (in Untitled) i selected the first rest and clicked edit>paste.
This not quite the same thing. The methon in the How To needs a selection marked with a blue frame

Yes, you are right.
I tried with selecting the 2 bars(in Untitled) but it won't paste either...

The steps from the how to do work, I've used them frequently. But deviating from the procedure just slightly and it fails...
In bus_168-wendy_wouters-gt_5, 3rd and 4th measure, 2nd System, exchange voice 1 and 2, so that vouce mone has rests only.
In Untitled Exchange voice 1 and 2, so voice 1 has notes rather than just rests and voice 2 has all rests (or nothing at all).
Select these 2 measure in Utitiles, copy
past into the 2 measures of bus_168-wendy_wouters-gt_5
then in bus_168-wendy_wouters-gt_5 Exchange voice 1 and 2 again.
voila!
The important thing is that the target stave voice 1 has to be empty (rests only) before the copy and in the source stave the None empty voices if the target stave have to be emtpy (rests only), else you'r overwriting notes.

pfff, thank you! that worked :)
Still something funny happened there is this dotted rest(12beats?) where there should be only a quarter.
i do not mean to nag but what is wrong with this "filter"function like Sibelius has/used to have in 4?
If i recall correctly that was pretty intuitive.

...hmm, this is not good.
There were funny rests in the 4th voice all over.
I ended up rewriting the last 2 bars from the B-part but now i found out suddenly there are notes missing in the C-part.
Looks like it cannot be normally edited, i deleted the rest but it is not possible to enter the "a" in the first bar 3rd beat in the 4th voice that was previously there

sow, it is fixed, good thing there was a range of backups in this topic :D
I pasted the C-part from version 5 in...
Apart from the page fillout and some small things i am happy :)
Thanks for the help!!

A way to control what gets copied and pasted is definitely a known area for improvement. No doubt it will be added some day.
