You can do this already. Select the staccato, open the inspector (F8) if not already open. Click the black rectangle near the top of the inspector and chose a color. Then deselect the staccato to see the new color.
Same color as closest note I guess. Finding that might be tricky though... I haven't figured out a way to get at the articulations so haven't put much thought into it.

This is a request to improve the functionality of an existing plugin.
What color do you make the staccato dot when it'a on a chord of some sort?
