Newbie question 'Guitar Voices'

• Jul 6, 2017 - 20:03

Hi all! I'm pretty new to using Musescore so I'm still learning the ropes. I generally like it and find it pretty easy to use I do have a couple of questions though.

I'm working on digitizing some classical guitar pieces where the directions seem pretty obvious in the old-style handwritten score, but Musescore doesn't seem to like it. I'm new so if I mess it up please be kind. Basically, want I want to make is a cleaner copy of this.

Also I want the Tablature to work properly. I presume that if I used the 'make invisible' command V then note it should look nice and not have the ugly greyed out look?

Hope you lads and ladies can help!

Can you be more specific abut what you are having trouble with? Is it the use of multiple voices? Be sure to read the section on Voices in the Handbook. If you continue to have trouble, please attach the actual score you are working on and describe the problem in more detail, and someone will be able to help.

As for tablature, also be sure to read the handbook section on that. Not sure what in particular you'd be wanting to make invisible, but if you do mark something invisible for whatever reason, it does show gray on screen so you can still select it and work with it - presumably you wouldn't have entered it at all if you didn't want it there in some sense. But it won't print or show in a PDF etc. And if you want to see a preview of how it would look, you can turn off the display of invisible elements in the View menu.

Quick responses great!

I attached a file of a Carcassi Etude I'm working on. Maybe I should resurrect my old Flickr account to embed the files in future posts? As I mentioned I'm a newb to this board.

In regards to the voices. I'd like to have the P (thumb) in voice 2 and notated like it is in the original. I and M or I,M,A I'd like to have in voice 1.

No problem with the file you attached, but it is just a picture. In order to understand the problem you are having, we would need you to attach the actual score (the MSCZ file) so we can see what you have managed to do so far and where you seem to be having trouble. Looking at the picture, it appears it *should* be straightforward to achieve the results you want, so we don't know what in particular you are having trouble doing. Again, do be sure to read the section on Voices in the Handbook so you understand how to enter different notes into different voices. if you enter the notes into the correct voices, you should get pretty much those exact results with little or no further fiddling.
