Sent email to myself containing some stuff before nuking my computer

• Dec 21, 2013 - 16:55

Somebody please help. I was working on a piece, and later in the day I decided to nuke my computer (aka factory reset it) The problem is, I sent an email to myself containing one of my pieces, and now when I try to open the piece is says that .mscz, [with a comma] is not supported.
Note: I had a plugin installed, which I am now installing. I hope it works, because if I lost this piece, I would be heartbroken.
Yes I have reinstalled Musescore. The problem was that I emailed myself the backup, not the actual piece, and I can't figure out what to do...
Another note: I have Windows 8 not a Mac. Windows forever. Mac never.

The first link is the original. The second is the same general setup, except with nothing written. COuld you mess around with it, see if you can get it to work?
Thanks so much.

Note: They have the same name.

Read this:
http://musescore.org/en/handbook/file-format
especially the part: 'MuseScore backup files'. (Backup files have a comma at the end.)

Perhaps you emailed the backup file, which must be renamed to open in MuseScore.

Also, what operating system, MuseScore version?
You can also attach the file here if you want someone to see if they can open it.

Regards.

Thanks for the advice. I got to that conclusion right before I read this. Never thought of uploading it here though...
Or wait.... Hang on, you mean uploading it to Musescore online? Already tried it.
BTW, I only have the backup so now I have no idea what the heck to do.

@smithn421 the MuseScore software for desktop is an open source project and is created by a community of contributors from all over the world, including developers, translators, designers, documentation writers and those giving support on this forum. So a lot of people to thank ;)
