Nightly - What did I do, and how do I do it again?
Something strange just happened, as I was practicing with the nightly builds, trying to retrieve a 30-year old jazz score from my fading memory.
I was copy/pasting a complex rhythm pattern between instruments. (well, not really complex, but very time intensive to input as it involved tuplets and ties, which are easier to do once and copy) Somewhere in the midst of CTRL-C/scroll/CTRL-V I must have hit some key/click combination I was unaware of and suddenly I was staring at a fully extracted score with tabs for all instruments. This is not the extract method I am familiar with, and though each tab is editable there are no X's to close the tabs.
My questions are, what did I do to automatically extract these parts? (How can I do it again when I actually WANT an extracted score?)
How can I close the tabs?

This is the new "linked parts" facility - parts are saved to the same file as the score, and change to automatically reflect in the other. To generate the linked parts, go to File / Parts and the "New All" button (or add them one by one). This is also where you could delete parts you don't want. There is no way I know to simply "close" the tab for a part.

Neat! But there must be a shortcut, because I wasn't in menus, I was typing/clicking and must have hit on the combination. It would be great if linked parts were fully linked in that they automatically update with changes to the master score. This does not appear to do so, unless there is more to it that I have not seen yet.

Shortcuts can be found and customized in Edit / Preferences / Shortcuts. I'm not aware of any for this operation, though. This was a score you created yourself - not a file you got from someone else that was already set up that way?
Anyhow, most changes *are* linked between score and parts - hence the name. However, on the assumption that manual positioning adjustments (eg, dragging or nudging) only make sense for the specific layout you are looking at, those aren't linked. Also, the score and parts have independent page layout and style settings, so changes to either of those aren't linked. And there are a couple of known issues where a couple of other specific changes that should be linked are not. But certainly, actually changing the notes in the score should affect the part and vice versa.
If you have a specific case where you think something should be linked but isn't, you might want to start a thread in the Technology Preview forum (which is the best place for discussion of the nightly builds) to discuss it. If there is agreement that changes of that nature should indeed be linked and are not, and there is no existing issue for that, then we should submit one.

Ah, yes, it is indeed linked. Nicely done. As you mention there are known issues, among which are surely improper transposition/clef display and playback.
This is an original score; the hand-written MS from 1984 is upstairs in a filing cabinet. I am just exercising my memory and trying to see what the nightlies can do with work that is not crucial.

I'm not aware of any clef issues, so if you are seeing something amiss, you should post your score and steps to reproduce in the Technology Preview forum
Regarding transposition and playback, it partially works, but there is this:
