Composing Tools
Plug-ins for retrograde and inversion would be extremely useful - I use these methods of composition as a matter of course, and it would save a great deal of time to have them.
Handling of larger scores is slow, and editing these is still not quite practical, even with 3Gb RAM. Speed improvement would be greatly appreciated.
These improvements would make it very practical for people producing orchestral music.
Great program!

Could you attached a score that is slow to work with? In my experience large scores work fine. Also tell us what version of MuseScore you are using and what operating system you are using.

Hello David
Attached: score of a piano concerto - I imported this from a MusicXML file exported from PrintMusic 2009 - I wonder if this has anything to do with it? I'm using MuseScore latest version, 0.9.5, though this score was originally imported into rc 1. You'll notice that in places, staccato dots and accents have got themselves the wrong way round, and there's some work to be done on the formatting in MuseScore. Also, chunks of the imported music are missing.
I've started a big score from scratch in MuseScore - this seems to be quick, though I haven't entered a lot of notes, and the score length is only 20 bars. It's beginning to look as if the problem is with MusicXML import.
I'm using Windows 7.
I much prefer the look of the score in MuseScore.
Regards
Lester Hough

Make sure you click "Attached" after you browse for the file. Your comment above does not include any attachments.

Apologies - here it is.

Could you share the MusicXML file also? You may have to zip compress the file if it is very large.

Here is the MusicXML file zipped.
There still don't seem to be tools for retrograde, inversion, etc.
Would you be able to add these in the next version?
