Con Sordino Strings
I know that there are sf2 files for what I'm looking for, but the sound is too muted. Granted, that's what "con sordino" is, but I'm looking for something more crisp and tinny than garbled and muffled.

From the Philharmonia Orchestra Website, they have Con-Sord String Samples. http://philharmonia.co.uk/explore/sound_samples/violin&&filter_articula… http://philharmonia.co.uk/explore/sound_samples/viola&&filter_articulat… http://philharmonia.co.uk/explore/sound_samples/cello&&filter_articulat… http://philharmonia.co.uk/explore/sound_samples/double_bass&&filter_art…
Warning! These Samples are in Mp3 format, so you need a special program that converts these files to Wav. Maybe Audacity? You can also cut out the starting blanks and compress the audio in each of the samples, and then convert them to wav format. Then you can enjoy creating your own Con-Sordino Strings SoundFont!
