I reinstalled the latest version and have same problem with palettes window.
It's collapsed to a tiny box. I tried resetting to default and nothing happened.

We would still need you to answer the questions I asked in your other thread - and to post a screens shot - in order to be of much help.

The Paint screen shot only captures the main page. I'll just have to live with it. But I don't understand why I have the same problem even after reinstalling the program.

Again, we need to know what OS you are on in order to begin helping you. Among other things, answering that would allow people to help you figure out how to make a screenshot.
When you say "main page" and "palettes window", this makes me think maybe you've undocked the palette from the window where it normally lives. What happens if you drag it back to the left side of the main window and dock it there?

I docked it in the upper left corner. But when I reinstalled and then started the program, the palettes window was just sitting in the middle of the screen, like it's a hangover from the earlier program. Very strange.

I try to understand: you see something like in the attached image?
A double-click on the palettes header?
