1/8th note Input problem
Hi again. This is my second post today....sorry about that. I'm completely new at this, and what's worse is that I don't know notation hardly at all. But I'm on a quick learning curve with this software.
Anyway, my problem is I am having trouble trying to enter an 1/8th note. I have two voicings on the one measure. I can get the first voice correct, but it won't let me put the last 1/8th note in the second voice.
I hope my attachment shows exactly what I'm doing wrong.
Thanks for your help.
Michaela

Hey Michaela! Have you input an eighth rest on the fourth beat (assuming the music is in 4/4 time) in voice 2?

Hey there Magnus. I have certainly tried...but when I attempt to input an eighth rest in voice 2, it will do it in the first three positions (where the first three quarter notes are), but does not want to go in the position after the last 1/4 note. Hey, at least I'm learning all about the names of everything using this software!...lol. Any ideas?

Strange, because I have no trouble doing that. What operating system and version and revision of MuseScore are you running?

Hi'a Magnus. Of course, you are right....and I simply had to be more careful when entering the notes/rests. I deleted all and started again twice, and got it in the end. My problem was the initial two rests of the different voices. They were lying over one another and I'm not sure what I did first time around to muck them up, but I did something wrong....lol. Thanks very much for your help! Much appreciated!

p.s. FYI: The latest MuseScore 0.9.5 (2012), and Vista home premium.

Glad you solved it.
This is another example of where we need the program to situate the rests vertically according to voices.
Regards.

Yes, I think that would be appropriate. Sibelius got this right.

Yes. It is much more beneficial to have them separated like that. Very easy to see if there are any mistakes.

You're welcome!
Could you attach the actual MuseScore file? If the music is copyrighted maybe just attached the measure you are having problems with.

Hi there David. Any relation to Michael? Joke, sorry. Thanks so much for your interest. Actually, I have solved the issue. It was my own fault in not seeing the rests clearly (they overlap one another if they are in the same horizontal placing). But thanks so much for taking the time to offer your help.
God bless,
Michaela
