How to insert notes (i.e. move rest of the notes to the right)
Hello everyone
A inherited some scores from another guy, converted from Noteworthy format, but it turns out that he did not follow the measures correctly. One 4/4 piece, for example, actually should start on two quarter note rests, but he ignored the rests and simply started the piece at note #3. This means that notes #3, 4, 5 and 6 are in the first measure (etc), instead of notes #5 and 6 being in the second measure (etc).
Is there any way that I can insert two rests so that all notes move to the right by two quarter note counts?
Thanks

Select range the 6 notes -> Cut -> First measure: select the whole rest (but already highlighted, so no really necessary -> type 6 to receive two half rests -> Select the second half rest, and paste

Thanks, quite simple, actually.

Indeed. No need to want to "move" or "delete" rests (as one can read sometimes in these forums): simply learn to cut and paste to the new wished location.

Do you have to cut all the way to the next rest in order to get the correct note shift? If so, what if you don't have a rest for several bars? It seems like a true shifting delete and inserts are warranted, actually.

The problem is that Everything that you move to the right, whether by insert or copy and paste, now has improper beat emphasis.
