Fingering position is unchanged when beam orientation changes
⇒
Update fingering position on change of beam orientation
Severity
S4 - Minor
⇒
S5 - Suggestion
This is currently by design. The fingering layout algorithm calculate a default position based on the state of affairs at the moment thet fingering is added, and this is not changed until you manually update (Ctrl+R does the trick). So, not just beaming, but also adding a note to a chord or other actions will often require a manual update. This is indeed a but unusual in that most other things in MuseScore are updated on the fly, but for better or for worse, that is how the fingering layout was designed and implemented.
The layout algorithms in 3.0 will work on entirely different principles, so it is likely that fingering will update automatically. In case it doesn't already, I am leaving this in place for now as a reminder that is indeed something we'd like to address for that release.

This is already much different in 3.0, but positioning relatative to beam is still not good. Will be better with https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/pull/4591
