Altering default space between lines in blocks of text

• Dec 22, 2017 - 22:45

I am writing several pages of music that will require a few lines of text instructions above the first line of music, but below the title. My solution thus far has been to create a frame, open a 'staff text' somewhere and drag it into the frame. (If there is a better way for me to do this, let me know; I explored various 'add text' options but the specifications of types of text listed there did not fit what I was trying to create.) I am trying to make a fairly mundane change: I don't want the lines of text to be so closely spaced (vertically). I would like them at 1.5 spacing, for example. Would I need to start new staff text boxes for each line of text and manually place them farther apart? It seems there must be a better solution. In the style-> text-> staff text box I only see options to change fonts, font sizes and placement of the entire block of text.
Any ideas?

Definitely better solutions than staff text. Instead, after creating the frame, right click it, Add / Text. This is just plain text, styled as Frame Text. The spacing between lines when you do this should be the normal spacing for that font. If you want non-standard spacing, then you can create multiple frame text elements and position them manually. This is still better than staff text because it will continue to look right if the measure spacing changes, whereas staff text will move with the measure it is attached to.
