Hidden rests or ?
How add different rests/notes in just single measure of song to accommodate different timing of words in different verses? Verse 1 has a half rest followed by 4 eighth notes - while Verse 2 has one quarter rest followed by 7 quarter notes.
One person mentioned using hidden rests, but I haven't found that topic explained anywhere.
Or alternative solution. The timing of the words/rests is different for just a single measure of the song, so writing out both verses is not a good solution.

Two sets of notes for a measure require multiple voices or an ossia with an appropriate text instruction, and if there be lyrics consider utilizing underscores for the rested portions of one of the verses.
Musescore will not allow selecting one voice for a particular playthrough and a different one on an other. If the measure happens to be at the end, utilize voltas with two measures. Alternatively, maintain an explicit version for audio exporting and then maintain a visually simplified version with dual-voices/ossias.
Buona Musica.
You don't need hidden rests, but for the record, to hide a rest (or just about anything else), simply enter it normally, select it, and press "V" (or deselect "Visible" in the Inspector).
All you need, though, are multiple voices. Put the first versa in voice 1, second verse in voice 2. A common approach would be to make the voice 2 rests and notes small (also using the Inspector).
For display purposes use voice 1 for verse 1, then use voice 2 for verse 2 with the different rhythm. You will need to start the voice 2 verse with "Enter" to make the voice 2 verse show up in verse 2. You can then select the notes in one of the voices and remove the check from "Play" in the inspector to keep both note's verses from being played at the same time.
