Roland UM-ONE mk2 USB MIDI Interface.
I have another rather basic question. Roland UM-ONE mk2 USB MIDI Interface. I have just bought one of these to connect my Yamaha keyboard to my MacBook Musicscore 2 app so I can play and notate directly onto a score from the keyboard. The red lights on the device don't come on when I plug them into the keyboard - which is obviously on as it plays. Is this a fault and should I send it back or am I missing something? I got it through Amazon.

Maybe it's trivial but

Start MuseScore after the keyboard is switched on ?

Thank you again for this helpful tip. I did in fact start MuseScore after the keyboard and go to the preferences etc but when I got to the device section no device comes up because no doubt the keyboard is not speaking to the computer and still the lights are not on ( ie the 3 red button lights on the junction box). I am now wondering if in fact the Roland device is compatible with my Yamaha Model P-80 keyboard , or whether ( as I first thought) the Roland is just faulty.

Check the switch labelled "COMP" or "TAB."
Have you selected the new Midi Device in MuseScore, Edit/Preferences I/O tab?
From google I see that the LEDs should light up when the device receives power.
Note that if the driver is not installed first, the interface will not even light up (LED off when USB is plugged in)
Consult the Roland handbook or search on the website.

And I have just entered the first notes of a song I have been working on; thank you to everyone for the great help with my primitive queries. I don't rule out returning to this forum with more dim witted questions but at least I am moving forward.
