By using operating system means to make the file read only
If it is only to stop accidental over-writing then, yes, make it read-only via your operating system´s file manager but if your aim is to stop somone editing it then you can´t make a MuseScore or MuscicXML file truly read-only any more than you could a text document. You could save it as a PDF or as a MP3 file if you wanted to show people your music but not let them tinker with it.
