What's up?

When I downloaded 2.2 I did not uninstall the previous version. It may be that the My Settings folder has been overwritten only partially. In case the Synth points to a missing file.
In my case I have solved it like this:
I opened a score; I opened the Synth, Fluid tab, and pressed the "add" button, MuseScore_General.sf3 appears;
I clicked the "Set as Default" button.
Try it and let us know.

Excellent, this worked fine for me.

Uninstall indeed keeps the settings
Are you sure you did a factory reset? The output seems to say no soundfont was loaded. What do you see in View / Synthesizer? How about if you hit Add?

I see that no sound font is loaded / assigned.

> Are you sure you did a factory reset?
No, not 100% sure. There was a "dialog button within musescore about reseting to factory settings". This is what I did as it was mention on the Internet somewhere. It was somehow different from the procedure described here https://musescore.org/en/handbook/revert-factory-settings.
> What do you see in View / Synthesizer?
An empty "Fluid" tab.
> How about if you hit Add?
A choice of "MuseScore_General.sf3" and "French Horn 2.sf2".
In reply to > Are you sure you did a… by whaefelinger
The procedure, from the menu, is automatic.
'French Horn 2.sf2' did you have installed it in the previous version?
In reply to The procedure, from the menu… by Shoichi
True. Added 'French Horn 2.sf2' before in order to get a better sound. Did not work out as expected btw.
In reply to > Are you sure you did a… by whaefelinger
Make sure "MuseScore_General.sf3" is added and as the top (or only) one.

Removed "French Horn" soundfont, just "MuseScore_General.sf3". Nonetheless, how would I get a better sound for "Horn in B"? (Ok, this is a side issue).
In reply to Removed "French Horn"… by whaefelinger
Go ahead and add that if you like, just add it after MuseScore_General, and then select it in the Mixer for the staves you want it. Or find another General MIDI soundfont you like better.

Set MuseScore_General.sf3 as defaukt, then ad French Horn 2.sf2
Thanks for all input so far that enabled me to solve my problem. Kudos to all, especially for answering so incredible fast.
