2.2.1 won't install on Windows 7
Downloaded and ran 2.2.1 Windows installer. It refuses, telling me that it cannot find the installer version 2.1 (yes, you read correctly). My download is hot off the website, so I know I have the latest version.
I cannot uninstall because I have no idea how to uninstall. Strangely, MuseScore's Online Handbook don't tell me either.
I have full admin access to my Windows machine. 2.2.1 installs and works seamlessly on iMac running Sierra.
Any help appreciated.

Do you have 2.1 installed? Can't you uninstall that via the Windows Control panel / Software?
The handbook does tell that BTW, see https://musescore.org/en/handbook/install-windows#uninstall-windows
You can also get older versiosn, like 2.1, from https://musescore.org/en/download#Older-versions, maybe installing 2.1 first helps to get 2.2.1 installed?

If you must install version 2.1 in order to install 2.2.1 it would be a new bug. It's never been necessary to have an older version to install the current version. I suspect that you must have installed version 2.1 somewhere else or somehow moved it after install and the installer can't find the old version it knows is there from looking at the registry.

Thanks, Mike. I have 2.1 installed already. Had it for some time now. Just can't seem to get rid, or install 2.2.1 via new install, overwrite or delete and install...

I can't remember if Windows 7 has a 'repair' function for programs in Control Panel.
If so, try to 'repair' the 2.1 installation; then try 2.2.1.

Thanks, I tried that and get an error that it's not a valid installation package. It would seem that nothing gets rid of it.

Thanks for the help. I checked out the installation section and tried this. However, I get an error saying that the network resource is unavailable...it is available. It requires Musecore 2.1. I have Musecore 2.1 installed. When I go to look and identify it on another path (it asks me to do this), it tells me that Musescore can't uninstall because it can't find version Musescore 2.msi.....which is the same problem I had originally when my installation package of 2.2.1 says it can't install because it can't find 2.1....It would appear it may be trying to force me to uninstall pre-Beta versions before I get anywhere...!

I stand by my second statement above I suspect you somehow moved it after install and the installer can't find the old version.
I'm not sure how to fix this though. I recommend that you do a search on the internet to see what Microsoft might say about removing an application the installer can't find.
Not sure if this helps or is even completely accurate, but my understanding is that on Windows, you need to keep the installer for an application around in order for uninstalling to work properly, and that also applies if an update involves an automatic behind-the-scenes uninstall of the existing version (which I believe is the case for the 2.3 update). As far as I know this isn't MsueScore-specific, it's general Windows behavior.
So, if you've removed the installer for your existing version, solution might be to find the installer and downlaod it again. Don't actually run it, just have it in place, and then the update can do its magic to properly uninstall the existing version.
Could you post print screen of the error message you receives please (also when you try to uninstall from add/remove programs)?
