Problems getting Shape notes plugin to install on Ubuntu Linux

yes the link here, https://musescore.org/en/node/268914 , i have placed the lasconic-shape_notes-c79f91d.zip
file into /usr/share/mscore-2.0/plugins and ~/Documents/MuseScore2/Plugins with extracting it first and putting the /shape_notes.qml into each location. Could someone tell me what i am doing wrong because it shows in the plugin manager but can not find out how to use in musescore.

I do see there is a javascript file as well, /shape_notes.js , but where does it go? Isn't it supposed to be installed somewhere for the application to know to use the file to make the plugin work?

Documentation says this plugin works on version 1.3 and 2.x but what does the 2.x mean? any version starting with 2.0 and above?

I tried downloading 1.3 but if someone knows how to tell me to install, i will try it that way. I am a novice with anything outside of the gui in linux. Please help as it seems shape note people get no love with this application.
