If the noise continues after you have closed MuseScore, it stands to reason the noise isn't actually coming from MuseScore. More likely it's coming from the audio subsystem (eg, PortAudio, PulseAudio, ALSA, CRAS, etc - lots of different components can be in play) on your computer, and while MuseScore may have triggered the bug in that subsystem, you may need to search for more info on your audio software. If nothing else, that's probbly the process you need to kill to get it to stop.
I've never experienced this, so i dont know
Similar problem but it is transient. Windows 10 Pro, 64, MuseScore 3.0.5.5992 rev 58dd23d. It screeches at full volume for maybe half a second if I don't wait long enough for it to "settle" after launching MuseScore or loading a file to start the play. It also occurs sometimes when closing MuseScore. Makes me jump out of my chair! Unlike HalloumiBoi1337's case, it does stop.
My equipment isn't the fastest. Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @2.40 GHz. 5GB memory but it happened the same way with 3GB memory before I added a little more. The attached file just produced such a screech on closing MuseScore. But it didn't happen the second time.

Edit Menu => Preferences -> I/O Tab.
Can you take a screenshot without changing anything?

Thanks. In the mean time I have closed MuseScore, and re-loaded the file, but have not changed anything in Preferences.

OK.
Change :
API: Windows DirectSound
and
Device: Speakers (High definition Audio)
or
Device: Primary Sound Driver
(bu not to Primary Sound Capture driver)
Click [OK]
Quit Musescore and open again.

Done. It didn't screech when I restarted and tried to play it immediately. This doesn't always happen, so it's hard to know for sure that it's cured, but if it screeches again I'll come back.
Thanks so much, you people always get right on it when there's a problem!
